Introducing Peter Taylor: Watford Mayor 2018

In 2002, the first Mayor of Watford was elected. Dorothy Thornhill was elected for the Liberal Democrats, and she also broke two records in the process. Baroness Thornhill is the first woman to be directly elected as mayor, and she was also the first Liberal Democrat mayor to be directly elected. She held the position until 2018, when she decided not to run for another term.

The Liberal Democrats put forward a new candidate. Peter Taylor won easily, with 48.7% of the first round votes and another 61.6% of the second round votes. Taylor assumed office on 4 May, 2018.

Five Priorities for the Watford Mayor 2018

First of all, Peter Taylor aims to deliver value for money as Watford’s mayor. Just like Mayor Taylor, Plumber Watford also aims to offer great value with every job we do. He plans to keep taxes low. Local residents will have more money in their pocket as a result. This is great news for the local economy. There will be funding made available and therefore local services can improve what they offer for residents.

Taylor will work with local housing associations to produce more affordable homes. Watford residents will therefore have better properties to live in – and pay less in rent. Plumber Watford supports those housing associations, and also local residents, by providing a top notch plumbing service.

Mayor Taylor’s manifesto also contains pledges to improve public transport, to raise funding for parks and leisure centres, and also regenerate the town centre. Local businesses will benefit from these improvements. The newly developed Business Improvement District will host local trade events and festivals. Furthermore, those changes to the public transport system should make Watford a more attractive place to live and work.
